WhatsMyPaycheck is a free, independent tool that helps people in the United States estimate their take-home pay from a salary or hourly rate.

What we do

Our calculators apply current-year federal tax brackets, the standard deduction, Social Security and Medicare rules to the pay you enter. State pages are added one at a time, and only after that state's payroll rules have been checked against official sources.

How we keep it accurate

Tax figures come from the IRS and the Social Security Administration and are updated each January. The calculation code is covered by automated tests. Our methodology page lists the sources and assumptions.

What this is not

This site provides estimates for general information. It is not tax, legal or financial advice. For decisions about your own taxes, consult a qualified professional or the IRS.
